Critical Care Flight Paramedic, New South Wales Ambulance, NSW, Australia
The first thing to know about Elisabeth is that everyone calls her Libby…and this hopefully quickly becomes Lib. Libby considers herself very fortunate to live in the beautiful beach side suburb of Bondi in Sydney Australia. She is a Critical Care Paramedic on the NSW Ambulance Rescue Helicopter.
After completing her nursing training and exploring this profession, Libby quickly discovered that her love affair was actually with pre hospital care. 2001 saw Libby start with NSW Ambulance as a young and eager paramedic. She soon realised this was going to be equal parts, the steepest learning curve and the greatest adventure. Libby has chased every opportunity within NSW Ambulance and has a diverse skill set across clinical, operational and managerial roles. It was just over five years ago that Libby moved into a role within Ambulance Executive. This role continued to have the same steep learning curve…however the greatest adventure was lacking. Libby quickly realised she had many more years of frontline clinical care in her.
This is when her most recent adventure began…the rescue helicopter. Libby feels fulfilled and challenged everyday. Libby has more recently started working part of each year within the Helicopter Paramedic training unit. This sees Libby training colleagues in clinical, aviation, remote area access and rescue aspects of the Helicopter Paramedic role.
Libby truly believes she has the best job in world, surrounded by the most beautiful, accomplished and professional colleagues. She has been known to say ‘I work with the best of the best…the best pilots, the best crewmen, the best doctors and the best paramedics…this is the perfect recipe for a brilliant work environment and it forces me to step up each and every day’.
