Dr Heidi Baker
Emergency Medicine and Paediatric Specialist
Auckland City Hospital, Auckland, NZ
Heidi trained in general paediatrics in Melbourne. 15 years ago she moved to New Zealand due to her love of the mountains, rivers and pull of multisport activities in NZ. Here she completed training in Adult Emergency Medicine and joined ARTH in 2014. In 2018 she facilitated the first “Kids Count 2” paediatric simulation in situ training day, and as mother of twins lived out her personal maternity fears attending premature twin delivery in rural south Auckland with ARHT. A simulation instructor with APLS, ACME and ACEM Prehospital workshop, CRM programme at Starship and teaching neonatal resuscitation in Queenstown, Heidi loves the complexity and creativity of simulation but firmly believes in ensuring we do not lose site of the importance of getting the basics right.
